A Dairy Story
First published on WATERSTONES 'What's Your Story' website, Jun 2008
While visiting family in India some years back, my little sister insisted that she should be brought her daily drink of milk. However, buffalo milk is more common than cow's milk in India, and she didn’t take to its sweet taste and creamy texture at all.
Our grandfather eventually managed find some cow’s milk at a local farm and brought it home, but my sister was very suspicious.
‘Show me the cow,’ she said.
So our grandfather took her to the farm and pointed out the cow in question.
‘Will you drink the milk now?’ He asked.
‘No,’ she said, screwing up her nose. ‘The cow is too thin.’
